Happy Mother’s Day from the Scotch® Brand Team… xox
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
TIME NEEDED: Approximately 1 hour
Scotch® Brand Supplies
Scotch® 8″ Precision Stainless Steel Scissors
Straight edge ruler
Additional: Tray, water glass, glass mug, plate and one ramekin, one napkin, an egg cup and flowers.
Plan and prep. Choose your colour scheme and your product. If you would like to replicate the design we have featured in this project, simply refer to list above. This tutorial will assume you’ve selected these items.
Egg cup design. Decorate your egg cup by applying a piece of Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape, Quatrefoil Sunset around the top, and add a small strip vertically to the base.
Drinking glass design. Use a clear drinking glass for a mini vase. Circle the top of the glass half inch from the top with a single piece of Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape, Quatrefoil Sunset and a piece of Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape, Purple.
Colourful tea bag. To create a unique tea bag, cut the existing tag from a bag and replace it with a heart shape cut from cardstock and then cover the cardstock heart with Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Fuchsia. Use your utility knife to trim for a clean edge. Add a strip of patterned tape to the center of the heart.
Mug handle décor. Create another heart shape out of cardstock and cover with Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Fuchsia in the same manner. Use a second piece of Masking Tape and secure one end to the bottom of the heart. Wrap the second piece of tape around the top of a mug handle.
Mug completion. Together with the tea bag, attaching the heart on the mug creates a little ‘hook’ to hold the bag in the hot water.
Napkin ring design. Trim cardstock into another heart shape, leaving two long pieces to either side to create a napkin ring. Use alternating patterns of Washi Tape on the ring of the napkin holder. Trim with a utility knife for a clean edge. Wrap around napkin and secure with another piece of Washi Tape.
Breakfast tray design. To complete the breakfast tray, line the inside edge of your tray with alternating patterned Washi Tape. We used Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape, Quatrefoil Sunset and Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape, Purple for this tray.
EXPERT TIP: Try integrating more items, dependent on the meal you’re serving. It’s okay and we encourage you to add colour to more plates, bowls, or whatever items you choose to serve food!
